But finding the time to really talk and properly connect can be tough. Ordering a takeaway and watching a film sometimes just sounds more appealing. That’s why at the very heart of the Coupld Membership is the live ‘work-out sessions’. They provide a set time that you’ve both committed to - and can’t easily get out of! It’s a way to stay accountable, and put the work in consistently. But what kind of ‘work’, will you actually be doing in the sessions? Read on to find out more…

CONNECT

To kick things off, you’ll both tell me a bit about yourselves, your lives and your relationship in a questionnaire. Think of it as a chance to reflect and a way to benchmark the start of this journey together.

In our first ‘work-out’ we’ll look at your answers… and then it’s time for some fun!

VALUES

What are your ‘North Star’ values? And how do they complement one another? We spend a session getting clarity on all of it.

From small, everyday disagreements to bigger picture thinking, this new lens will give you a different perspective on things.

AFFECTION

Feeling loved and cared for is fundamental to a fulfilling relationship. Yet it can be so easy to miss each other’s efforts. This can lead to feelings of neglect and resentment, which slowly chip away at our relationship satisfaction.

So let’s make sure you really understand what kind of affection you each need.

 

EMOTION

Firstly, we’ll look at how you both maintain emotional stability. The aim here is to acknowledge each other’s tendencies and to see them as equally legitimate. There’s no “right” way to go through life, after all.

Secondly, we’ll explore your emotional triggers, how you express them and what’s behind them.

Finally, we look at how you can effectively repair things in the aftermath of emotion.

COMMUNICATION

It’s a cliché, but communication really is key.

We’ll take a lighthearted approach to get the conversation started. You’ll be asked to work together in a time pressured challenge to reveal your typical communication patterns.

We’ll also cover lots of other stuff, such as the conditions you need for constructive discussions, what filters impact how you say and hear things, how you’d characterise your conflict styles, and more.

VISION

In your last structured ‘work-out session’ we’ll aim to end on a high. This is a chance to get excited about all the wonderful potential of your relationship.

Using a visioning exercise, you’ll get a clearer picture of where you want your relationship to go.

We’ll look at your current priorities, and how they could shift, in order to reach your ideal life together. What steps should you take? And how will you work as a team to get there?
